5 Great Tasting Recipes to Cook on your Gas Grill

Gas grill cooking doesn’t have to mean the usual plain old sausages, burgers and maybe the odd bit of grilled steak.  With a little imagination you can cook some really delicious food on your gas grill. Don’t be afraid to experiment and try out some new recipes for your gas grill.  Any recipe can be adapted to suit your own tastes.  Once you start experimenting, you won’t want to stop!

Cooking times stated in all recipes are approximate.  Remember that all gas grills vary in cooking temperatures and times, so please check that your food is thoroughly cooked before eating.

Gas grill recipe 1 - Peppered steaks in BBQ sauce

Ingredients:

4 rump steaks
12 crushed black peppercorns
BBQ sauce (or to make your own sauce: ½ pint ketchup, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon vinegar, 2 tablespoons soft brown sugar, cold water)

Method:

To make the BBQ sauce, mix the ingredients together and add enough cold water to make it up to ½ pint. Spread the crushed peppercorns over both sides of the steaks, pressing the peppercorns down into the steaks. Grill the steaks according to taste. Pour the sauce into a pan and bring to the boil, stirring frequently. Serve.

Gas grill recipe 2 - Peppered gammon glaze

Ingredients:

4 gammon steaks
¼ teaspoon of black pepper
1 tablespoon soft dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons clear honey
2 tablespoons orange juice
1 tablespoon oil

Method:

Mix the black pepper, sugar, honey, orange juice and oil together and spread over the gammon steaks. Cook the gammon on the gas grill for around 12 minutes, brushing occasionally with the glaze mixture, and turning the meat over every now and then to ensure the meat is evenly cooked.

Gas grill recipe 3 - Mussels in Beer

Ingredients:

Fresh mussels
Tin of chopped tomatoes
Crushed garlic clove
Tin of beer

Method:

Preheat the gas grill and then place all the ingredients into a deep cooking pan and cook for around 5 minutes.

Gas grill recipe 4 - King Prawn Spiced Kebabs

Ingredients:

King prawns
For the marinade:
1 red chilli (chopped and de-seeded)
Juice of 1 lime
3 tablespoons of olive oil
1 tablespoon of chopped coriander

Method:

Mix the above ingredients together for the marinade. Dip the king prawns in the marinade and then place them on skewers. Place the skewers on the gas grill and cook thoroughly.

Gas grill recipe 5 - Corn on the Cob

Ingredients:

4 ears of fresh corn
Salt
Pepper
2 ounces of melted butter

Method:

Preheat the gas grill.  Remove the husks from the corn and wash the corn.   Place each corn in its own wrap of aluminium foil.  Spread the melted butter over each corn and season to taste with salt and pepper.  Wrap each corn tightly in the aluminium foil.  Cook on the gas grill at a medium heat for around 25-30 minutes, turning each corn parcel regularly for even cooking.
